A new arborist has joined Carolina Tree Care. Say hello to David Whitley!
What began as a way to supplement his income turned into a passion for trees for David Whitley.
David started out as a part-time laborer and in the last 30 years has performed every position a person can in this industry, including operations manager, consultant, and salesperson. He has even provided expert witness testimony in legal cases regarding trees.
David has been an ISA-Certified Arborist for 23 years. He comes to Carolina Tree Care with an ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification and credentials from TCIA's Certified Treecare Safety Professional program.
David loves the physical aspect of tree work and that it allows him to be outdoors as much as possible.
When you meet with David, expect him to take a scientific yet practical approach to caring for your trees. His goal is to help you develop a management plan for your trees within your budget. He'll also provide guidance on when you should schedule treatments so you can stay ahead of seasonal issues.
David lived in Florida for 16 years, but he was born in Union County, NC and has spent the last 7 years back in the Charlotte area.
He has served on the board of the Charlotte Arborist Association and was the president of the association for 3 years. He was also a site leader for Saluting Branches at the Salisbury National Cemetery for 6 years. According to their website, the Saluting Branches Day of Service is the largest one-day volunteer event in the tree industry where volunteers care for trees at 77 veteran properties.
David will be serving clients in the neighborhoods of the South Charlotte metro area, including Southpark, Eastover, Weddington, Pineville, Waxhaw, and Fort Mill.
When he's not advising people on how best to take care of their trees, David enjoys hiking, camping, and kayaking with his wife and two dogs, a miniature schnauzer named Onyx and a black Labrador named Colt. He has two adult daughters and will soon be a grandfather, too.
David also likes to take his Jeep down off-road trails to look for trees that most people never get to see.
His favorite trees are the live oak and the bald cypress, by the way.
